This track follow the Anauni mounts that close the Val di Non from north to south.
We can do this track in the winter with the snowrackets or ski touring. Many places we will passing by could be without snow because they are facing the south.
The difficulty of the track does no need particular habilities but the way is quite long and some iced area could be tricky. On the pass, going up the track number 500, we will find a crossroads on the right which is worth to follow. Then we will going back and going up until the Penegal through woods of bleech and pine.
Just above the pass, the trail goes up to path number 500, we find a fork to the right that is worth to follow (then we would go back on our trail continuing along the same path 500 for Mount Penegal) for visiting the so-called "view of Ferdinand", where there is a hut with a panoramic view and where already the Archduke Ferdinand of Austria enjoyed the wonderful view of the Dolomites and the Val d'Adige. Let's retrace our steps and climb up to Penegal through forests of beech, pine, and larches higher up . Arrived on the crest with often breathtaking views, we will observe chamois probably on the run and from the sky the imperial raven will follow our path. On the top we can see some beautiful examples of ancient pines. Following the path number 500 we reach the top of mount Macaion. In case the journey could be too difficult because of the snow or for any other reasons, just before the Macaion we can turn to the left of our direction towards the Mendola pass (about 1 hour), to the center cross-country skiing Paradise (on the road in about an hour) and then to the hut of Malosco or “the Regole di Malosco” location that can be reached by car from Ronzone. From the top of Macaion the way down pass through the town of Fondo (2.5 km from Ronzone). Arriving to Fondo after this long journey will look like a triumph!
